READ XANDRA’S TUSCANY STORY:

A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO, I WANTED TO TRAVEL TO ANOTHER COUNTRY. I had never been out of the United States before.

So I started lobbying hubby to go to Ireland.

Not too long after, he says, “I found a great place for us to go on vacation!”

Me: “Where is that?” (thinking he had found a place for us to stay as a home base while we explored Ireland.)

Hubby: “Italy!”

He was so excited. I hope my disappointment didn’t show.

But it didn’t take long at all for me to come around.

He had found us a place to stay in Firenze (Florence), Italy, where we could stay and explore the beautiful Renaissance city of Florence and surrounding Tuscany for 10 days!

It was billed as a small, family-style hotel, Albergo Bonifacci. (“Albergo” means “hotel” in Italian.) And for the same price as the big name hotels, we would have not only a nice room with a private bath, but we would also eat dinner with their family every night!

How cool is that?!
